Beardstown Illinois High School Class of 1960

The Class of 1960 is still around after 50 + years of good and righteous living.  We are even in the electronic world as shown by this web site.

Our start in high school

Do you recall the 117 Freshmen (to be politically correct also Freshwomen) that entered high school in the fall of 1956?  Our pick for class flower was the "Pink Carnation" and our colors "Pink and Black".

We did a good job in selecting our class officers that first year. They were Terry Applegate, Bill Loxely, Mary Carls, and Bill DeSollar, all under the sponsorship of Miss Jaggers.

As you may recall we canceled our 2020 Class party and Reunion because of Covid.  For a while we had hoped to have a Class of 1960 get together, but that did not pan out either.

As a second choice we had a number of Zoom meetings so we could keep up with our Classmates and families.   We had a group of about 25 or so who indicated that they would like to participate.   We held about 6 Zooms on the first Wednesday of the month.   However we typically only had about 6-7 Classmates who were able to join in on any one meeting.  And it was the same small group of Classmates.

 

I have not worked on this web site for the past 1 - 1 1/2 years, I guess I just lost interest.  Our Class has lost a few more Classmates and I had not included them on this web site.  I assumed there were some that were able to keep up with our Classmates by looking at the site.  However, since I have not up dated it since 2022, they probably stopped looking at it.  I am sorry for that. 

 With the loss of Terry Stiles and Les Farwell recently, I felt the need to get this site updated.  So bear with me and I will do what I can.  And probably as all of you are going thru, I have found myself slowing down in recent months.  I guess that age thing is catching up.

Since our last Reunion

We have lost a couple more Classmates in recent months.  I will attempt to keep this web site current, so you can also keep track of your fellow Classmates.

David Asher

I do recall that David and Elizabeth came to our 50th Class Reunion.

Kay Ann Fox Perry

Kay was in our Freshman, Sophmore, and Junior annuals, but I do not remember why she was not with us for our final year.

Terry Applegate

Tom Baer

Tom was also in our Freshman, Sophmore, and Junior annuals.   Again I am not sure why Tom did not finish with us in 1960.

Terry was with us our Freshman, Sophmore, and Junior years, but I do not remember why he did not finish with us in our Senior year.
