Beardstown Illinois High School Class of 1960

The Class of 1960 is still around after 50 + years of good and righteous living.  We are even in the electronic world as shown by this web site.

Our start in high school

Do you recall the 117 Freshmen (to be politically correct also Freshwomen) that entered high school in the fall of 1956?  Our pick for class flower was the "Pink Carnation" and our colors "Pink and Black".

57' Class Officers

We did a good job in selecting our class officers that first year. They were Terry Applegate, Bill Loxely, Mary Carls, and Bill DeSollar, all under the sponsorship of Miss Jaggers.

-Well we went thru one year of *ell, but 2022 hopes to be a better year than last year.

As you know we canceled our 2020 Class party and Reunion as did the Beardstown High School Alumni Association.  For a while we had hoped to have a Class of 1960 get together, but that did not pan out either.

As a second choice I put together a series of Zoom meetings so we could keep up with our Classmates and families.   We had a group of about 25 or so who indicated that they would like to participate.   We held about 6 Zooms on the first Wednesday of the month.   However we typically only had about 6-7 Classmates who were able to join in any one meeting.

With the bright (or brighter) outlook for 2022, I will set up a few more Zoom meetings to let people catch up on each other.   I will be sending our a notice to those of you that want to be a part of this.

Please everyone -Get your shots & Booster and Continue to Stay Safe & practice social distancing.

Since our last Reunion

I noted on Facebook that Lynn Baymiller had sent a note out saying that Jeff was in a Nursing Home and he most likely would not be coming home as he is suffering from dementia.  Please let our thoughts be with Jeff and his family.

I left The following updates on this page incase you were not aware of our recent loss of Classmates.

We have lost some of our classmates since our last Reunion.  This is why it is important that we try to attend our Reunions whenever we get the chance.   It may be the last time we can see and talk with each other.

Since our May 2015 Class Reunion our "Family" of classmates has gotten smaller.   In 2018  we lost Earnie Carls, Gene Peacock, and Sis Jamison.  We then started out 2019 on a sad note, when we learned that Charley Spears passed away.   Next we lost Reggie Robertson, and also Bob Hay.  Then late in the year  I learned that Bill Loxley passed away on November 19, 2019.  Just in early 2020 did I learn that Sandra Ellerman Walker passed away in May of 2019.

The year 2020 has been very unfair to every one for a lot of reasons.   With Covid 19 affecting our 60th Class Reunion, and many activities and functions, 2020 will at some point be a bad memory.   The loss of Classmates has also become a reality in 2020.   In May of that year Larry Hall passed away, in November Dick Dyche and Bettigail Kaiser Dyche passed away.

The list of Classmates that have passed away since our last Reunion continues to grow, and that was making this introduction page too long, so I have created another page that will list those who are no longer with us and have passed away since our 60th Reunion.    Click on the following link.
